Due to our increasing work load, we have a position available for an intermediate to senior level Geotechnical Engineer to join the
Geotechnical team at our Papatoetoe office.
Fraser Thomas is a multidiscipline consulting company located in Papatoetoe, Paihia, and Cambodia. It operates throughout the northern half
of the North Island in New Zealand and extensively throughout Southeast Asia and the Pacific. The company has an active mentoring programme for young professionals
and encourages continuing professional development through regular in-house seminars, training sessions and assistance with post-graduate study.
This position will provide the successful applicant with the opportunity to be involved in an interesting array of geotechnical engineering
works throughout the greater Auckland region. Overseas work may also be available.
The successful applicant will be able to work largely unsupervised and be able to take project and investigation work from inception to
reporting and will also be required to provide supervision and training to junior staff.
Applicants must have the following qualities in order to meet our requirements:
Minimum 5 years post graduate experience in geotechnical engineering work
Either working towards or have obtained Chartered Professional Engineer status
Good verbal and written communication skills
A relevant tertiary degree or diploma in civil engineering or geology, preferably BE (Civil)
Enthusiasm and the ability to work as part of a team
Experience in scoping and supervising geotechnical field investigations, undertaking geotechnical design works, slope stability
appraisal and analyses, preparation of factual and interpretive reports.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities includes:

Managing the delivery of projects and staff resources to meet workloads
Organisation and supervision of geotechnical field investigations on various projects including residential and industrial subdivisions,
slope stability assessments, forensic engineering jobs, building developments, municipal waste landfills, etc
Preparation of Geotechnical Reports
Preparation of Construction Contracts
Site supervision of projects
Ensuring quality standards are met
Mentoring staff
Managing existing client relationships and developing new business
Preparing estimates and proposals
Managing costs

Qualifications:
|
BE Civil or equivalent
CPEng (preferred)
Current NZ Drivers Licence
|
|
Technical competencies: |
Previous NZ based training and experience
Strong technical and analytical skills
Word, Excel, AutoCAD
Experience with analytical programmes (WALLAP, Slope/W)
Familiarity with relevant NZ Standards and the NZ Building Code
