STRUCTURAL / CIVIL / ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER - Northland Office

Things are looking good at Fraser Thomas, Northland. We have a position available for an Engineer, preferably CPEng qualified, to assist with Structural, Civil and Environmental Design. Initially the projects would be residential and light commercial Structural Design however capability in other engineering disciplines is desirable.

Fraser Thomas Northland provides a range of engineering and surveying services throughout Northland. At the moment our team comprises 10 people. We are based in Paihia, in the heart of the Bay of Islands.

Fraser Thomas Northland is part of Fraser Thomas Ltd, which is a multidiscipline consulting company with other offices located in Auckland (Papatoetoe and Sandringham), and Cambodia. We operate throughout the northern half of the North Island in New Zealand and extensively throughout Southeast Asia and in the Pacific.

The company has an active mentoring programme and encourages continuing professional development through regular in-house seminars and assistance with post-graduate study where appropriate.

Job Description:

Job Title:	Engineer
Location:	Williams Rd, Paihia, New Zealand
Position Reports to:	Northland Director
Job Purpose:	To provide engineering design services for clients in accordance with industry best practice and company policy
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities includes:	Managing the delivery of projects and staff resources to meet workloads Organisation and design supervision on various structural projects including buildings, retaining walls, foundations, etc Structural analysis and design of residential and light commercial structures, retaining walls Design of Civil Engineering and Environmental Projects Preparation of Reports Preparation of Specifications Preparation of Construction Contracts Site supervision of projects Ensuring quality standards are met Mentoring staff Managing existing client relationships and developing new business Preparing estimates and proposals Managing costs
Qualifications:	BE Civil or equivalent CPEng (preferred) Current NZ Drivers Licence
Technical competencies:	Previous NZ based training and experience Strong technical and analytical skills Word, Excel, Autocad Experience with analytical programmes (currently using Microstran) Familiarity with relevant NZ Standards and the NZ Building Code
Personal Attributes:	Ability to work as part of a team Client focused Practical outlook Commercially aware Ability to plan and prioritise work Good communication skills – written and oral
Other:	Must be eligible to work in New Zealand
