Given this extensive local experience, Fraser Thomas were commissioned by Auckland Council to design a solution to pipe an open channel located in a former Railway embankment that was experiencing piping failure from the stormwater it conveyed. This entailed upgrading the existing stormwater reticulation along the line of the abandoned railway from Queen Street to Victoria Avenue in Waiuku. The works involved the piping of an existing open drain with a 630mm diameter pipe and provide an overland flowpath and footpath above the pipe
